Matriculation

President's Reception to follow from 4:00-4:30pm on the South Lawn of University Hall. 

Matriculation is an ancient word that means to enroll. Acadia’s Matriculation Ceremony for first year students is a formal acknowledgement that they have arrived and are about to embark on their Acadia journey. Wearing the traditional black robes of the undergraduate, students will be piped in to University Hall in what will be a rehearsal for [nbsp]Convocation in May of 2019. Families and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend – and to bring their cameras. It’s a proud moment for everyone and should not be missed!

The Residence Life Staff (RAs) and House Council would like to welcome you to your Residence. They will also review any necessary rules and regulations for the residence at this time. This is event is for students only.

Arrival and Survival

Time: 7:15-8:30pm

Location: University Hall

 

Recap to follow from 9:00-9:30pm in residences. Arrival and Survival takes place at University Hall and is a fun and often humorous series of skits put on by returning Acadia Students on the first Saturday of Welcome Week. The skits provide a snapshot of each month during term. Although humor is part of the night, important issues relating to campus, residence life, and academics are also addressed. This is an event not to be missed, as it will inform new students about life here at Acadia and the resources to which they can turn as the school year progresses.

Meet with your section mates and chat with your Resident Assistant. Your time in your section will be enhanced the closer you are to your neighbours!

Residence Kick-Off Event

Each individual residence will hold their own event this night. We ask that students stay in their assigned residence for the evening and meet those they will be living with. Off campus students are encouraged to link up with a building and join in.

Chapel Orientation Service

The Acadia University Chapel will hold its first service of the academic year that will be presided over by the university Chaplin Timothy McFarland and assisted by the executive of the Acadia Students’ Union.

Venus Envy

Halifax’s Venus Envy will be hosting this educational yet entertaining event. This will be university sex education unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Be prepared for a little nervous laughter and a lot of questions answered! Come down to Festival Theatre for 7 pm!
