Volunteer at Camp Triumph This Summer
Be a Volunteer Camp Counsellor at Camp Triumph This Summer
Who we are:
The only residential summer camp in Canada serving children 7-17 who have a parent or sibling with a significant chronic illness or disability. Through no fault of anyone, these children have to take a back seat to the attention and care that’s required by the ill or disabled family member. Camp Triumph provides a chance for these children to take a break from their role as caregivers and from the stress and uncertainty at home. They are able to have fun, meet others who can truly relate, and just be kids.
Where:
Malpeque, PEI. Right by the ocean.
Time commitment:
You are able to volunteer for any or all of our four week-long sessions.
July 18-July 25; July 25 - August 1, August 8-15; August 15-22
What you would be doing:
Helping to lead activities and building relationships with the campers while looking after their needs as a part of the team of staff (counsellors, directors, program, and activity coordinators).
What we do at camp:
Swimming, kayaking, archery, field games, sports (field and court), arts & crafts, high & low rope challenge course elements, rock climbing wall, campfires, and more.
Attributes we look for in a counsellor:
Fun-loving, energy, enthusiasm, maturity, ability to relate to kids, openness, hard-working.
What volunteers get out of it:
The experience of a lifetime. You will find the campers will teach you perspective and the value of appreciating what you have in life. You will grow as a person and gain confidence. You will have just as much fun as the kids in a carefree, welcoming, and relaxing environment. Not to mention, it looks great on post-graduate and job applications!
